Musée Au fil du papier

À Pont-à-Mousson, nous avons un musée qui a la particularité de présenter une collection d'objets réalisés en papier mâché. L'ancienneté de sa fabrication remonte au IIe siècle après J.C. après l'invention chinoise du papier. Transmise aux Perses puis aux Arabes au VIIIe siècle, elle passa par l'intermédiaire de Venise en Occident, Russie, Allemagne, Angleterre où l'on fabriqua des objets faits en feuille de papier collées l'une sur l'autre puis laquées. Le Japon connaissait depuis longtemps l'art de la laque et l'on chercha longtemps en Europe à l'imiter. C'est à partir de 1872, à Pont-à-Mousson que s'est développé une industrie d'art avec la fabrication objets et meubles décorés de peintures polychromes, de feuilles d'or, d'incrustations d'ivoire, d'étain ou de nacre. La diversité et la richesse des formes ont construit la notoriété de la famille Adt venue d'Ensheim (en Sarre) au XVIIIe siècle. At Pont-a-Mousson, we have a museum that has the peculiarity of having a collection of objects made of paper mache.
